A message from one of the theatre’s members:
I’m David, a member of the People’s Theatre in Heaton. If you’re aware of us, that’s tremendous! But if not, we’re one of the oldest theatrical institutions in the region, and the longest-established in Newcastle, meaning our little old theatre has recently found itself in desperate need of some rejuvenation!
This is where it gets exciting, because we are currently short-listed in a “Building Better Communities” competition, run by Jewson Building Company, to win a MASSIVE cash prize of £150,000 to go towards development of the theatre. The competition involves people voting through Facebook (link below) for their preferred project, and the *really* exciting thing is that our little old theatre is currently in the lead with almost 1,500 votes and the deadline fast approaching!
Things like this never happen. It’s the stuff that wild dreams are made of, but we are taking whatever steps we can to try and ensure that we do not let this opportunity slip by. So please, we invite you to cast a vote for us below, and also to come along and see the quirky, tragic comedy “Jumpy” by April de Angelis, showing all this week!
