Rafa Benitez is already idolised by the Toon Army despite being in charge of Newcastle United for a relatively small amount of time. It’s been a while since there was a good buzz inside St James’ Park, and it really doesn’t matter that we are in the Championship – although Sunderland fans may disagree. We are going places with Rafa – few people would dare to doubt that.
Rafa has proven to be a class act since joining the club, but its not just his management of the players that has pleased fans. His regular comments about the support he feels from the supporters have not gone unnoticed and people genuinely look forward to his pre and post match interviews – something that we could never say when the likes of Pardew and McClaren were at the helm.
One fan is particularly pleased with Rafa at the moment. John Robson is a member of the Newcastle United Disabled Supporters Association and for the past 10 years he wrote to the various managers of his beloved team, hoping for a reply – to no avail.
That was until the other day, when he received his first response – a signed photo from Rafa himself. This story was shared on the great Facebook page Newcastle Utd – More than a club
