Sara’s Hope Foundation is a wonderful charity based in Newcastle that was inspired by the late Sara Hoburn. In 1999, Sara was diagnosed with an extremely rare and aggressive form of colon cancer. Sara´s attitude amazed the medical staff in the Teenage Cancer Unit in the Royal Victoria Infirmary Hospital and she was awarded a braveheart for her courage and the way she cared for the younger children in the ward.
The video below shows what a remarkable girl she was…
Sara’s Hope Foundation runs a holiday retreat in Crete offering respite for children and young people with cancer and their families. Their mission is to give families from the UK, who are affected by the devastating impact of cancer, a much needed break from long hospital stays, traumatic medical procedures and cancer related treatments. – Their work gives families the opportunity to spend quality time together recuperating and enjoying life as a ‘normal’ family – strengthening relationships and creating lasting happy memories.
As with all charities, they need funding for them to continue the great work they do.
On Friday 20th February there will be a fund-raising event taking place at The Rooftop Bar in Kingston Park featuring a fantastic local band, Tommy and the Oddballs.
You may have seen them before as they are a hugely popular band with a massive local following. Loud, lively and loved by all who see them.
They are a classic pop rock band well known for playing 60′s, 70′s, 80′s, 90′s, and ensuring a great night out.
Tickets for the event are now available for £5 each from The Rooftop Bar with all proceeds going to Sara’s Hope Foundation.
