The Collingwood Arms

Upon entering Brandling Village, the scent of rich history mingles with the aroma of masterfully crafted brews. This intriguing mix emanates from none other than The Collingwood Arms, affectionately dubbed “The Colly” by locals. Since its opening in 1836, this popular Jesmond pub has been enticing visitors with its warm atmosphere, impeccable drinks, and welcoming staff.

The Colly pays homage to its namesake, Admiral Lord Collingwood, the Newcastle-born hero who led the English Fleet to victory in the Battle of Trafalgar following Nelson’s death. The pub was initially named by its first landlord, Robert Hewlitt, and was acquired by W.B.Reid of Leazes Brewery in 1890, who had it largely rebuilt in 1903. Stepping inside, you’ll find a harmonious blend of historical charm and modern amenities.

Beyond the extensive range of lagers and ales, The Collingwood Arms offers a handpicked selection of fine wines and an impressive range of bottled beers. This delightful assortment of libations is served by friendly staff who ensure that every guest receives a warm welcome.

The pub’s inviting ambience extends outdoors with its comfortable seating area, making it a perfect spot to unwind on a sunny day.

So, if you find yourself in Jesmond and you’re craving a taste of history, fantastic brews, and a dose of genuine camaraderie, then be sure to visit The Collingwood Arms.
