The Punch Bowl

Stepping into The Punch Bowl, located on the bustling Jesmond Road, feels like a delightful mix of old-world charm and eclectic modernity. This traditional Newcastle boozer boasts signature twists that’ll leave you impressed. Imagine sipping a chilled craft beer while admiring Russian art, witnessing a model railway whizzing around the walls, and experiencing electronic toilets inspired by a Tokyo McDonald’s. Intriguing, right?

The Punch Bowl, a three-room establishment, flaunts its love for vermouth, fourteen cask beers, natural wines, and live music. Sprawled across the venue, you’ll find areas dedicated to records, delicious food, and stand-up comedy, making it the ultimate spot to kick back and revel in diverse entertainment. And for dog lovers, it’s a haven, as furry friends are more than welcome.

Originally built in the 1870s in a “Scottish Baronial Style,” this pub has quite a history. It was refurbished in 2019 after lying disused for some time, and the renovated space now houses Bobiks, an intimate event venue on the first floor with a 60-person capacity.

When it comes to the drinks, The Punch Bowl is no slouch. Expect to find 16 varieties of craft beer and cider every eight weeks, featuring IPAs, pales, a hefty DIPA from Gateshead, and some lip-smacking Iron Brew Sour. The pub also offers an impressive selection of natural wines, spirits, and over 30 varieties of wine and beer.

Food at The Punch Bowl is a central part of the experience. From chicken Caesar burgers to katsu curry and lamb pies, the culinary offerings here are superb.

The Punch Bowl’s laid-back atmosphere is perfect for socialising, whether you’re catching up with friends, enjoying a family meal, or simply unwinding after a long day. The staff is friendly, attentive, and dog-savvy, ensuring everyone, including your canine companions, has a memorable visit. The outdoor seating area and the games available at your table only add to the allure of this unique pub.

From its exceptional selection of cask beers, wines, and spirits to the delicious plates of food, this pub exudes an irresistible charm. Dog friendly, steeped in history, and brimming with quirky character, The Punch Bowl invites you to kick back, relax, and soak in its eclectic atmosphere.
