Market Shaker opened its doors at the end of August 2019 and became an instant hit. This fantastic venue, which describes itself as a bar, dancehall and garden, has now firmly established itself as one of the most popular hang-outs in town. Complete with extensive outdoor seating, its an obvious choice for many during the summer months.

What was there before Market Shaker?
The business which operated on these premises prior to the opening of Market Shaker was called Ember Lounge. Prior to this, it was also home to several other bars including Robinsons, Liquid and Circuit 1.
Back in 1882, a pub called the Nags Head operated in the same location, which was the first pub to occupy this position on the Bigg Market.

Drinks menu
A great selection of cocktails, wines, spirits and bottled drinks are on offer at Market Shaker.
Plenty of quality draught beers also available including offerings from Wylam Brewery.
Food menu
‘Market Slice’ is the fantastic pizza menu on offer, with delicious, rustic, hand-made pizzas made by their award-winning resident chef.
Pizzas can be ordered whole (various sizes available) or by the slice and there are regular promotions to enjoy.

The Market Shaker Instagram bio states that the venue has a walk-in only policy and that table bookings are not required.
However, from previous posts it seems as though tables/booths can be reserved for special events that they are hosting.
